Speckled Racer

This stunning juvenile Speckled Racer (Drymobius margaritiferus) was spotted by one of my campmates slithering under a staff tent in Mancolona. A member of the Herps team extracted the snake and measured it to add to his data. He then returned the snake to a log on the outskirts of camp where it sat for several minutes, giving me the opportunity to get a close up!
