This is a Madagascar Ground Boa (Acrantophis madagascariensis). He was actually found in our kitchen to our Malagasy staffs dismay! Some of them were very brave though and did get closer once we explained that he wouldn't hurt them. We did a little photo shoot, measured, weighed, took a small DNA sample (tiny bit of tissue from the tail tip - don't worry we didn't harm him!) and released him a few miles from camp so he wouldn't distress the Malagasy any further.
